BBC Radio Cambridgeshire
It was great to meet Dotty McLeod on the BBC Radio Cambridgeshire Breakfast Show and talk about a sprinkle of GBBO and about Microwave Cake.
If you would like give the Microwave cake a go, here is a quick recipe:-
For 'best' results this recipe makes two chocolaate mug cakes
4 tablespoons castor sugar
4 tablespoons self raising flour
4 tablespoones cocoa powder
2 tablespoons sunflower oil
4 tablespoons milk
Give it all a thorough mix and fill your mug half full (do one at a time). Place in the microwave on medium power for about 2 minutes. The trick is to take it out as soon as the mixture stops rising. All microwaves are different so you may need to tweak both the timing and the recipe to get the best result.
You could also add coffee, chopped nuts or chocolate chips for alternative flavours, however it is best to get the basics right first.
Remember, it's a quick cake in a microwave and isn't going to replace an oven baked version so don't expect the quality, taste and texture to be the same. I am sure you will notice a big difference!
If you're new to baking, try this and then perhaps move on to one of Mary Berry's all in one method cakes.
